Barbara “Bunny” Holmes is an award-winning, multi-media artist with more than forty years of experience painting, teaching, and exhibiting her work throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and in Europe. Her most notable exhibit was at the National Gallery on Grand Cayman Island. There, her painting titled, “Cayman Island Angel: Guardian of the Fishes,” a watercolor, celebrating the glory of Cayman’s wonderous waters was inspired by her hours spent snorkeling and feeling grateful to God for his great blessings.
Her joyful paintings showcase the beautiful interplay between design, line, and color within nature. Her favorite subjects include florals, animals, and everyday scenes that take place in farmyards, small towns, parks, and fairs—and they inevitably tell a story. Her studies include courses at the Art Institute of Chicago, College of DuPage, and numerous workshops with professional artists such as George Shipperly and Ingrid Albrecht.
Bunny’s current show, “Sounds of Summer,” will include a colorful, reality-defying collection of watercolor, acrylic, and oil pastel paintings that inspire imagination and encourage dreams. Her artwork will be exhibited at the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, IL through the months of July and August 2024, with an artist’s reception on Sunday, August 4th at 11:30AM. 715 Carlton Avenue, Wheaton, IL 60187
