Art, Live Music, Dancing & Food Mark a Successful Latin Urban Art Walk in Downtown Naperville, IL on Saturday, 7/20/24

Updated: Jul 23

¡Buen trabajo!

The DuPage Hispanic Alliance did a fabulous job organizing a dynamic Latin Art Walk through downtown Naperville on Saturday, July 20, 2024. More than 20 businesses participated hosting local Hispanic artists who showcased their work with displays or demonstrations.

Peruvian crochet artist, Marita Valdizan, showcased her artistry at MAC Cosmetics, 108 W. Jefferson -- see an example of her work immediately below...

And just a block down at Nichols Library, Gio Arellano aka Fiendsco painted an outdoor mural on the building's southside windows -- see below.

Adding to the day’s rich cultural festivities was the new Alta Vida restaurant at 16 W. Jefferson. It featured a fabulous live band playing toe-tapping Latin jazz upstairs helping to showcase their beautiful stage and dance floor. If you haven’t yet visited this soon-to-be hotspot, it’s worth a trip. Fabulous décor, attentive staff and great menu choices combined with the rhythmic Latin music, assure guests a memorable time. Even though this establishment has only been open less than a month – you’d never know it. All ran smoothly on Saturday. Dine inside or al fresco at the restaurant’s entrance. Lovely!

Other participating visual artists scattered in businesses throughout the downtown included: Gloria Contreras, Andrea Peguero Gonzalez, Ricardo Gonzalez, Pierre Lucero, Chas Pacific, Pat Nunez, Jose Art, Javier Vargas, Christopher Lucero, Danny Ponce, Jacquiline Chaldez, Juventino Paniagua, Raul Rodea, Miguel Morna Freitas and Johny Felix.

I hope the DuPage Hispanic Alliance organizes this again for next year. If so, mark your calendars -- it's well worth attending!

THANKS TO ALL WHO SHARED THEIR TALENT AND TO THE BUSINESSES WHO HOSTED THEM – IT WAS A FABULOUS DAY!
