Fred Moss: “Art of the Parks” Solo Exhibition at Prairie Center for the Arts Fred Moss, renowned artist and nature enthusiast, is proud to present a solo exhibition, Art of the Parks: Paintings of the National Parks, at the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg, Illinois. The exhibit runs from March 31st through May 2nd, 2025 and will showcase over 25 oil paintings inspired by the scenic beauty, historic landscapes, and iconic locations within America’s cherished National Parks.

Art of the Parks is an artistic journey through some of the nation’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Moss’s paintings reflect his travels to a dozen National Parks, where he sketched, photographed, and painted plein air on-site. From sweeping vistas to intimate, hidden corners of the parks, his works capture the grandeur and serenity that have made these spaces sacred to generations of Americans.

“This series is a tribute to the power of conservation, an effort that has preserved some of America’s most stunning landscapes for the enjoyment of future generations,” said Moss. “Through these paintings, I hope to inspire others to visit our National Parks and continue to protect and celebrate this remarkable heritage.”

The exhibit is a celebration of America’s best idea—the National Park system—and offers a visual narrative of how these parks have shaped our collective identity. Moss’s works aim to remind viewers of the enduring importance of preserving our natural spaces.

As part of the exhibition, Moss is releasing print-on-demand reproductions of several of his National Park paintings. Available exclusively through his website, these high-quality prints are produced by a professional printing company in a variety of sizes and materials, allowing art collectors and nature lovers alike to bring home a piece of America’s wilderness.

In addition, Moss has a special connection to Crater Lake National Park, where he participated in an artist residency in 2018. While at the park, he led a “Design a Postcard” workshop for visitors and painted plein air works, including the iconic piece, Sapphire Sea. The painting was later digitized and offered as downloadable wallpaper for visitors through the park’s website.
