A collection of artists that explores the art of portraiture during COVID-19 Opens at Geneva Center for the Arts, 321 Stevens Street, Suite Q, in Geneva, Illinois on Friday, February 28, 2022
“The Deception of the Digital: Portraiture in a Pandemic Era” will be on exhibit through April 1st. Wine and beer will be available for purchase at the opening event on February 25th, 6pm-8pm.
This exhibition features a collection of 27 pieces by 11 artists from Chicago to California. Guest juror, Chicago-based artist Dimitri Pavlotsky, hand selected the work from over 40 submissions. Together, this work creates a poignant statement of human connection during a time of masks, distance and isolation.
A conversation with Dimitri Pavlotsky and the artists from the exhibition will be held on Sunday, March 6th, 1pm.
Kathy Honey, a featured artist in the “The Deception of the Digital” says of her work, “I am compelled to paint the portrait like a mystery to be solved.” She continues, “We all are mysterious. As the pieces fall into place, the essence of the person begins to emerge…”
