Introducing Sydney Pacha as the New Executive Director of Water Street Studios in Batavia, IL

Sydney Pacha brings Waterstreet Studios a solid knowledge of grant writing, fund-raising and development.

Just in time for the New Year there’s a fresh face heading up Water Street Studios (WSS), 160 S. Water Street, in Batavia, IL. Sydney Pacha is the new Executive Director coming onboard at the end of November 2022. With extensive fund-raising experience for non-profits and degrees in art history and arts management, Sydney brings a wealth of skills to guide WSS into 2023 and beyond.

She works with a 10-member board of directors and oversees a staff of six. With up to 20 art instructors offering around 100-plus classes for all age groups throughout the year, a busy gallery rotating exhibits monthly, various gallery events, and a roster of about 29 artists-in-residence working in studios there, WSS is a thriving hub of creativity.

Sydney’s plans include building bridges between art and the surrounding community, broadening membership and increasing public engagement. She has planned a busy schedule of outreach to learn what the area would like from an art center.

“We will be continuing with Second Fridays -- a monthly gallery opening featuring the new show for that month,” says Sydney. “There are 12 shows a year running from 6-9 PM and include meet-and-greet, artist talks, beverages and often live music. It’s a great way to celebrate the work of the featured artists.”
