Sculptor Carlos Page assembles captivating sculpture using reclaimed wood, steel, and concrete for mostly residential display. His work is fascinating in terms of balance, contemplative design, arresting textures, and exceptional quality. Each finished piece is almost Zen-like its calming effect on viewers. What’s more, it’s been steadily increasing in value – something not all artists are fortunate enough to state.

Carlos, who has shown his work in such Chicago-area exhibits as the One-of-a-Kind show in the Merchandise Mart and the River Walk Fine Arts show in Naperville, is now officially off the art fair circuit and has set up permanently in his own studio in Cave Creek, Arizona. He’s also a regular each year at the Celebration of Fine Art show in Scottsdale, AZ that runs from January through the end of March.

Born in Buenos Aires and well-traveled throughout South America and Europe, he entered Hunter College in New York City as an older student with his heart set on becoming a professional artist. A previous 18-month apprenticeship with an Argentinian sculptor based in California set him on the right path in terms of learning that much more than talent is needed for a successful art career. It also demands resilience, patience, perseverance, and discipline.

“I love the freedom I have found in the United States to pursue my life as I want without external constraints,” Carlos observes. “I’m not bound by cultural dictates and rules. The U.S. lifestyle is a good fit for an artist. In my studio, I can listen to my own instincts, make choices that are my own, and the entire experience is very empowering.”

Carlos states that he believes the materials he uses are relatable to everyone – they’re common items found everywhere around us. However, he’s handling them in a profoundly unique and arresting way.

“I use strong materials that people like – they’re used to build the world around us and therefore are highly relatable. There’s both a simplicity and a complexity to them,” Carlos says. “I can transform these materials into something meaningful for others to live with every day and enjoy.”

For more than 20 years, Carlos was an itinerant artist traveling the country doing art shows. He’s grateful for the time he did it, but even happier now that he has put down roots in his own studio that he designed and built over a three-year period.

“Now I can be in my studio devoting more time to focus on art rather than the travel logistics being on the road all the time dictated,” he says. “Long term this is a much better choice for my own well-being.”

His prolific output and his positive outlook are proof to that!

His price ranges depend on size and materials, but the majority of pieces sell for between $5,000 and $10,000. ###
