St. Charles Arts Council Announces Second Annual Plein Air Event with Cash Prizes for August 2025...Details/Deadline here

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE ST. CHARLES ARTS COUNCIL...

 

The Saint Charles Arts Council announces plans to hold its 2nd Plein Air Event, the week of August 18th to August 24th, 2025 in St. Charles, Illinois. This will be a juried event, with the judge selection to be announced later. A total of $5,250.00 in prizes will be awarded. Artists will be allowed to submit 3 paintings.

 

Building on the success of last year's attendance, the committee has increased participant numbers for this year to include up to 55 artists. Applicants are asked to apply via the www.stcharlesartscouncil.org website. Registration is open to all artists. Entry fee is $65.00, which must be included with registration. The deadline for submissions is April 25, 2025. The fee entitles artists to participate in all events listed below. This entry fee is non-refundable. Entries will be juried by the St. Charles Arts Council Plein Air Committee, and artists notified of acceptance, by May 9, 2025.

 

Artist events include Main Event - Weeklong Plein Air Paint Competition; Quick Paint, limited timeframe competition; Nocturne competition; Monday Night attendance at Welcome Party; Grand Reveal Party, and Public Sale of Paintings.

 

Activities will also be held for the public to participate in, throughout the week, including the following:


A Plein Air demonstration; A “Quick Paint” competition; Mindful Creativity for area children; and a Writers Event. Additional information will be available, at a later date.

 

Awards will be given out in a variety of categories, including:

Best in Show - $1,000.00; 2nd Place - $750.00; 3rd. Place $500.00; Nocturne 1st. Place - $600.00; Nocturne 2nd. Place - $400.00; People’s Choice - $250.00; Best Emerging Artist - $500.00; Quick Paint 1st. Place - $600.00; and Quick Paint - 2nd. Place - $400.00.
