West Chicago, IL Artist Call for Annual Street Banners with RENEWAL Theme

Two years ago, Wheaton, IL colored pencil artist, Johanna Rebman, was delighted her "Love is Fur-ever" submission was accepted and then made into a street banner.

The West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission (WCCAC) has chosen Renewal as the theme for the 2022 Art Banner Exhibit and a call for art inspired by the concept is now released to local and regional artists. ENTRY DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 1, 2022.

“As we turn the corner on a new and hopeful year, the Commission felt the theme would resonate with artists and those who will visit downtown to enjoy the display,” said Cultural Arts Liaison Rosemary Mackey. “The theme is broad enough for a wide range of interpretations which should produce an exciting collection of curated art for the juried exhibit.”

Details for Art Submissions

All media are welcome, with no limitation to technique or subject matter, as long as it relates to the theme, Renewal. Each selected design will be reproduced at the City’s expense on (h) 60 x (w) 30″ vinyl street banners. Artists selected receive credit on both the banner and in printed materials related to the exhibit. Additionally, applicants submit a brief statement about their inspiration for inclusion in publicity materials. Banners will hang on Main Street and West Washington Street in downtown West Chicago from May – September 2022.

Submitting artwork for consideration is easy through an online form found on the City’s website under Residents/Forms and Applications. More details here:
